ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE:

Thirty pregnant women who were following up in our department were discussed in this study.

METHODS:

Eleven (40%) patients were evaluated preconception period and folate treatment was begun. This replacement treatment was started to the other patients immediately in the first evaluation during pregnancy. The treatment of four patients, who was used valproate before pregnancy, was changed to lamotrigine, the treatment of three patients, who was stopped treatment because of pregnancy, was restarted, and the dosage of drugs was increased in five patients since they had seizures.

RESULTS:

Twenty-six (86.7%) women had healthy children, three cases had stillbirth and ectopic pregnancy was determined in the remaining patient.

CONCLUSION:

Thirteen women had seizure during pregnancy.
