ABSTRACT

The issue of whether epilepsy/epileptic discharges alone cause cognitive symptoms is still unresolved. Despite the reluctance of clinicians to accept language and behavior disturbances as epileptic symptoms, there is some evidence of not a simple but a complex relation between epilepsy and language as shown in the cases of ESES, Landau-Kleffner syndrome, infantile autism as well as some severe disorders where the two co-exist, such as Angelman syndrome and Rett syndrome.

EPİLEPSİDE DİL BOZUKLUKLARI

Epilepsi/epileptik deşarjların tek başına bilişsel semptomlara yol açıp açmadığı konusu henüz çözümlenmiş değildir. Dil ve davranış bozukluklarını epileptik semptomlar şeklinde kabul etme konusunda klinisyenlerde belli bir isteksizlik gözleniyor olmasına rağmen, ESES, Landau-Kleffner sendromu, infantil otizm ve bu ikisinin birarada görüldüğü Angelman sendromu ve Rett sendromu gibi daha ciddi hastalıklarda epilepsi ve dil arasında kompleks bir ilişkinin var olduğunu gösteren kanıtlar vardır.
