ABSTRACT

The prevalence of epilepsy was found 7-12.2 of 1,000 for Turkey. As the mean prevalence accepted is 10/1000, according to Turkish population census 2000, about 115.000 epilepsy patients are found in the military service age among men. Military convenience for epilepsy patients who are obliged to serve is determined according to Turkish Armed Forces Health Capability Ordinance (TAFHCO). Men having no disease or sequel; having disease or sequel included in the “A” category of disease and sequel list are considered “convenient for service”. “Not convenient for service” are the ones having diseases or sequels which are implicated in “B” or “D” categories. Epilepsies are interpreted in the 12th article of TAFHCO.
