Neuropyschology is a subdiscipline of psychology that focuses on cognitive functions and cognition-behavior relations. The goal of neuropsychological assessments in epilepsy patients is to follow up the cognitive side effects of antiepileptic medications and to monitor the cognitive decline associated with epileptic disorders. It has a crucial role in the evaluation of epilepsy surgery candidates since it measures deficits in cognition and behavior preoperatively, reveals the post-operative residual functionality and placticity and supplies new strategies to compensate for the cognitive deficits. We will discuss the applications in this article.
