Structural and functional evaluation of brain by imaging techniques is important in diagnosis and treatment of epilepsy. Success in epilepsy surgery depends on the exact delineation of epileptogenic zone and also, on underlying sructural abnormalities. Brain imaging techniques supply information about functional and structural abnormalities related to possible epileptogenic zone, the nature of the underlying pathology, remote abnormalities distant to possible epileptogenic zone, eloquent cortices (primary sensorymotor functions, language and memory). After operation, in case of failure neuroimaging will guide to understand the limits of surgical resection and the residual pathologies left behind. Functional neuroimaging techniques supply additional advantages on evaluation of epilepsy surgery patients.
